The mesh is small enough to contain or exclude most animals (including birds) and also plenty strong enough to contain or keep out larger animals including dogs and deer.

- This welded wire fencing 6×100 feet can be used to make tall garden fences or low deer fences. The main problem with making low deer fences is that one really needs a staked foldout of fencing at the bottom to keep deer from nosing under the fence. This foldout should be about 6 inches wide. That reduces the height of the fence to about 5.5 feet, and that is a little short for excluding deer. On the other hand, if deer are not a problem but woodchucks (groundhogs) are, this 6-foot fencing may be just the thing. Use it to create a 5-foot fence with a 1-foot staked down bottom fold. That will discourage groundhogs from digging under the fence and will also set up a fence about as tall as groundhogs climb.
- Other things being equal, black (technically the absence of color) is the least visible of all colors, so our black fencing is less visible than welded wire fencing that has not been coated in this manner. The black coating also provides some protection for the fencing underneath, but the main advantage is low visibility.
- This one-inch fencing is galvanized after welding, an important feature. It’s also salt spray approved and engineered for soil contact, so it works well in areas near the sea and underground. Use it to keep out burrowing critters that need confronting anywhere from a few inches to a foot underground. Or simply lay a fold of it out over the ground to keep deer from nosing under the fence and discourage critters like woodchucks from digging underneath.
