Polypropylene Fencing Deer 6×100 Feet: Here’s an ideal polypropylene fencing to use with a rodent barrier. (The rodent barrier is a two or three foot strip of metal fencing placed near the bottom of the fence. It prevents rabbits and ground hogs from gnawing holes at the bottom of the fence that deer can then enlarge to gain entrance to the enclosure)
You don’t need an all-metal fence, because this strong polypropylene fencing will keep out deer reliably so long as the bottom is secure and small animals aren’t allowed to make holes near the bottom.
So save money. Combine our polypropylene fencing deer 6×100 (Deer 1) with a metal hexagrid or welded wire rodent barrier of any height you like. Join these two types of fencing to create a deer fence 6, 7, 7.5, or 8 feet tall.
The choice is yours. However, if you’re striving to keep costs down, use this 6-foot tall polypropylene fencing with a 2-foot rodent barrier to build a 6-foot deer fence. That allows you to fold 6 inches of the rodent barrier outward toward the deer (necessary to keep deer from nosing under the fence), install 18 inches of the rodent barrier vertically on the fence, and extend your polypropylene fencing from the 6-foot mark all the way to the bottom of your fence.
Growing evidence indicates that a 6-foot tall fence will keep out deer. That is, it will generally keep them out if they are simply looking for a meal (not panicked) and if the fencing material has sufficiently low visibility so that the deer have trouble determining how tall the fence really is.
So if you are living in a community that does not permit fences taller than 6 feet, or if you want the lowest possible deer fence for whatever reason, a 6-foot fence employing low-visibility polypropylene is a good choice.
