This bundle of 7 fence post assemblies for an 8-foot deer fence permits easy post installation at ground level. Each assembly includes a 2.5-foot black post sleeve, the post itself, and a post cap.

  • The post is a 1-5/8-inch diameter round steel post with a 16-gauge wall, which is galvanized and given a black powder-coat finish.
  • The sleeve is two-and-a-half feet long, pointed at one end and open at the other. It is heavily galvanized for in-ground longevity and is rated for up to 30 years of useful life.
  • The cap is a low-profile plastic cap that is inserted into the top of the post.

Installation of these 7 fence post assemblies 8 feet tall (above ground) is easy. Simply install the 2.5-foot black steel sleeve in the ground with the assistance of a carpenter’s level, a 4-pound hammer, and a drives cap (anvil) provided separately. Use the anvil to prevent the hammer from damaging the top of the sleeve by placing it in the sleeve opening. Then place the point of the sleeve where you want the post to go and strike the anvil with the hammer. Use the carpenter’s level to make sure the sleeve goes in straight.

When about an inch of the sleeve is above the ground, remove the anvil and insert the post. The post will hit a crimp in the sleeve 10 inches down, at which point the post is installed. If you like, use the black matching set screw provided with the sleeve to keep the post from moving. Then place the cap in the top of the post to complete installation of the fence post assembly.
